Ghosts - Images of War |

|
Book Description:
Ghosts - Images of War uses uniquely designed images of the past and present combined to take you on a haunted ride through history. By expertly superimposing and digitally manipulating historical images of the past with photos of the present, Ghosts connects the spirit and people of history to the present day world. Almost as if you’ve traveled to the past, or the past has been transported to the present, the images evoke nostalgia, sadness, reflection, and hope. Battles and monuments included range from Valley Forge to the Beaches of Normandy.
After visiting concentration camps in Poland in 2008, viewing monuments and ruins filled with tragedy and despair, author Carrie Zeidman came home with unrelenting visions of the people who once occupied these spaces and whose lives were cut short. Searching out authentic photos from the Holocaust and combining them with images from her personal travels, she realized she could mesh the old and the new, contrasting the heartbreaking past with a hopeful present to create these unique images.
About the Author:
Carrie Zeidman is a digital artist and photographer whose passions are photography, art, travel, and history, all of which are found in Ghosts. She is a tenth generation Californian and a fourteenth generation American. Many years of researching her extensive family history, traveling to historic battle grounds, and creating her unique art all come together in her first book.
Her paintings start with a mood, an emotion, or a memory of some kind. Using color and figure, she finds a way to transfer that mood, emotion, or memory onto the two-dimensional surface of the painting. When finished, a successful piece is able to evoke the original feeling in the viewer.
Carrie has won several awards for her work, including being named Cupertino Distinguished Artist of the Year in 2013. Her work has been represented in galleries, and her painting Freedom Rises in the East is in the permanent collection of the Mauermuseum at Checkpoint Charlie in Berlin, Germany. She lives in Cupertino, California with her husband Bob, who is also an author of several books. She lives on a mountain top that affords her a different breathtaking view of the sunrise over the Santa Clara Valley every morning, providing endless artistic inspiration.

Introduction to Verilog |

|
Book Description:
This self-study guide came about as the result of the popularity of my textbook, Verilog Designer's Library. That book is an intermediate to advanced level reference book about the Verilog Hardware Description Language. Shortly after its publication, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) approached me to create an introductory book, based on the Verilog seminar that I give around the world. Over the years I've used the feedback from students to try to make it the best introductory Verilog course available.
About the Author:
Bob has nearly two decades of experience designing integrated circuits and circuit boards for many different types of systems. His clients have included Apple Computer, Cisco Systems, Ikos Systems, and Texas Instruments. He has written numerous technical papers on hardware and software design methods, authored a textbook entitled Verilog Designer's Library published by Prentice-Hall, and has instructed courses at engineering conferences throughout the world. He earned a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and two bachelor's degrees, in physics and electrical engineering, from Cornell University.

Horror Flick |

|
Book Description:
Horror Flick is a fun, scary
thriller about a film that is so bad, its viewers die watching it.
The evil spirit of the movie's leading man, who died during filming,
is somehow imbedded in the film itself. Our hero is Brent Wooden,
a Clint Eastwood-type, macho detective who is more comfortable dealing
with psychos than psychics. His assistants include Buttonwillow
McKittrick, a hippie, brainy, yet peculiarly seductive medium and
Roger Herman, an ultra-low budget film maker with an ultra-high
budget ego. This eclectic group must team up to stop this terrible
killing spree before it airs on national television, wreaking havoc
on the entire country. Their goal? Find the evil spirit and destroy
it at its rootsthe original celluloid copy of this long forgotten
film.
